|
|
We have a morning snack which the children pay for - just wondered what other people have for snack time so we can introduce more variety. At the moment we have something like crackers or breadsticks, vegetables with a dip, pieces of fruit, dried fruit. Sometimes those little fromage frais, but I'm not sure they would count as healthy as they have very high sugar content. Snack is bought and prepared by teachers before school, so can't have toast or anything like that.
Any other suggestions? |

Our school also has fruit and veg (usually cut into chunks) from a Foundation Phase WAG scheme. KS2 pupils have a healthy fruit trolley and smooties on sale every day (the whole thing is run by our SNAG group) but the whole school (that's from age 2-11) has a toast break during the morning as part of a breakfast initiative! _________________ This is either madness... or brilliance.
It's remarkable how often those two traits coincide.

| Toast would be great but can't make toast for 76 children (3 classes) while teaching! I'll stick to the fruit and veg stuff - at least they are eating it, and because it is just a snack, and they can take it or leave it, they are more likely to try new things. Current favourites are melon and hummous (although not together....usually!). |

Our kitchen staff prepare the toast and deliver it to the classrooms, otherwise it wouldn't be practical (we have about 700 pupils!) _________________ This is either madness... or brilliance.
