|
|
trying to go back to work and be organised not exist on take aways and baked beans
Any simple recipes that fit all or soem of these criteria?
- kids will like
- can freeze
- are very quick to cook or reheat (mean really quick!!)
- simple so teenage daughter could make
sort of thing they like are chicken korma (well chicken bits in a jar of sauce with rice) pasta with tomato and mascopne sauce, macaroni cheese burgers pizzas
Trying to make them a bit more healthy though so think some of the versions we do could be better
Any ideas |

Get a slow cooker, bung everything in before you go to work and it's ready when you get home.
As for teenage daughter making it - how about a pasta bake or something. |

we do pasta with tinned tomatoes and tuna and sweetcorn. Is very quick and no real prep time. _________________ I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it. |

It's worth investing in a slow cooker recipe book...we've had stroganoff, pot roast beef, casserole etc...yummy! _________________ Back to wondering if I can continue with this... |

| Mix a tin of tuna and 2 tins of ratatouille then heat through. Meanwhile cook pasta with some sliced mushrooms in the water too. Mix everything together and put in heatproof dish. Cover top with breadcrumbs (I freeze them in batches and use them straight from the freezer) and grated cheese. Put under the grill until golden and bubbling. My kids have just wolfed it down! |

| Love my slow cooker. Would they like rice with chicken and pesto and mushrooms? Just bung it all in your slow cooker and at the end of the day it'll be like risotto. |

| Another slow cooker recipe - bung in sausages, a tin of beans, some sliced potatoes, an onion and as much chilli powder/flakes as you like. My LO loves it. |

Sausages make great meatballs too, just squeeze them out the skin into a pan of tinned tomatoes.
Can you tell I love sausages?! But only the good ones! |

thanks for these ideas will be trying some of them this week.
Re slow cooker did have recipe book somewhere but kids were very reluctant eaters as everything was casserole type stuff which for some reason they dislike and has to be stuff which cooks for longest time as out all day |

| What about fajitas??? Your daughter could prep chicken and add the fajita mix and tomatoes. Someone else could chop up lettuce, red pepper and an onion. Then all make their own fajita. Add a bowl of rice for those who want extra. Bingo! |

Also thought of fish cakes - boil extra tatties with your tea the night before then mash up, add a tin of salmon or tuna, some chopped onion, some horseradish if you want or dill or something, a bit of egg to bind then either fry or grill.
Could serve with salad, noodles, pasta, whatever you like. |
