List of PTRCers doing the International Primary Curriculum
I know there's a couple of us on here that use the IPC, so thought it would be a good idea to compile a list so that we can help each other out with advice and resources for the different units.
If your school does the IPC, add your name:

I do!

I teach a mixed age Year 5/6 class.  We do Milepost 3 and have a two year rolling programme.  However, sometimes I teach a unit that I find dead boring so swap it for one that may be a bit more interesting.

I'd certainly be interested in swapping ideas/resources/activities with anyone else that teaches Milepost 3 units.

I'll list what I am doing/have done.

I've just finished The Holiday Show.  Really enjoyed it as did the children.  Ordered 4 tons of sand to be delivered on the playground and made a beach so we did plenty of role play, filming adverts etc etc.

I'm now teaching Black Gold and have a visit from Shell next week.  Will let you know how it goes if anyone is interested.

Next term is Settlements and hoping to fit in Feelings. I haven't taught either of those so would be interested in anyone who has.

I've taught Moving People - Migration; also a good topic and lots of scope for English here.

Last summer I taught Go with the Flow.  Again would recommend that one and managed to make it interesting and creative.  My class really gave that one the thumbs up!

I've also done Global Swap Shop - turned it into a Fiartrade topic mostly as thought it would be too dull otherwise.  Again, children enjoyed it, especially as we made money by designing and selling a fair trade product!

Next summer I'm hoping to do The Physical World.  I've only dipped into that as a trial for when we were trying to decide whether to buy IPC or not.  Seemed fun from what I can remember.

We try and be as cross curricula as possible.  It works mostly but some units seem to be more dry than others and very lacking in resources.  We also don't follow the scheme prescriptively but on most occassions it gives a good starting point.

I'm really pleased to have some contacts in Milepost 3.  We are the only school in our pyramid to teach IPC so there's not many people to bounce ideas off!
