We have had all our results back now, but I have not been in school to see them related to individuals yet - looking forward to that. Our Maths and Sci across the year are good, above target, which is pleasing. Our English across the year group is not so good, although my class have apparently done better than expected. The problem is the writing, of course. We have about 9 children across the year who have missed out on a level 4 by 1 mark, so we are considering a remark. We have just squeaked over the floor for English, but one lad's scores were added up incorrectly so in reality, we are just under . Ridiculous system, isn't it? Incorrect adding up, everyone happy; correct adding leads to the local authority crawling all over us for the next year doubting our ability to teach. (Fact that we have high number of EAL new arrivals is not relevant.) |

Hmmmm! Does there seem to be a trend here? Most people seem to be concerned about writing results, must find some time to check the papers as like a lot of people we seem to have children who we assessed as high Level 4s and even low 5s getting a level 3.
Is the problem that both myself and my year partner can't level?
Or did the children just perform really badly?
Or is the marking harsh?

JT don't worry, they must have faith in you as they put you in y6, wouod like to see them teach y6 all year! My head won't even have the boy who daily tells me to f off, pushes me and calls me a d head, apparantly it won't do him any good to exclude! It's not doing me any good either! You had a really hard EAL/SEN heavy class so what you've done is great, plus I tend to believe the TA and they'll be retested in September! _________________ Love the job, hate the paperwork! |

Fantastic news nelly!! Head held high, and I hope that no one says it was to do with the few weeks before SATs. It is down to you and the other teachers your class had in Key Stage 2. _________________ I wish I were relaxing on holiday! |

Good news Nelly. Who told you your children wouldn't achieve with your teaching, sounds a bit off to me? Do I feel fingers being waved at somebody?
I have gone through all borderlines in writing, just need one of them to be upgraded in writing so that we beat our targets - that would be so good for us! It takes forever to do, but I feel it has to be done for those children who have worked so hard all year.
Science was fantastic for us - why do they have to stop that one? Still waiting for maths - we are hoping for our best year yet, just wish they would arrive! |

| PR if it is a union thing then contact them sooner rather than later even if things go no further you will at least know your position. |

Got our science back today. Out of a challenging group of 90 spread across three classes (well challenging for us bearing in mind our stupid targets!) we got:
93% L4's
54% L5's
Only kids not to get 4's were the ones we could have predicted and we have 3 within 2 marks of a 5 too. Very pleased as this group had the potential to be a real mare. Just hope the others stack up! _________________ 'I didn't fail. I just found 10000 ways not to make a light bulb.' Thomas Edison |

Got English back today and feel the need to join in the grumbles over them. Actually met the target for L4 but one child has missed L5 by 2 marks and the marking has been very harsh, IMO. Also, almost every single script has a clerical error on it, numerous points scores changed (some 2 or 3 times) and overall scores changed after poor adding up. One paper has no less than 4, yes 4, alternative totals on it!!!!
Makes me so annoyed that there seem to be markers out there who don't give a s**t with my children's papers when I've spent hours and hours giving as much credit as possible to the papers I've marked and making sure I ADD UP THE SCORES correctly.
Rant over. Almost..... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! |

I suspect this number of changes suggests a very uncertain & possibly new marker rainbow. |
