Maybe, sal, but I thought they almost exclusively recruited previous markers this year (after the debacle of 2008).
Some of it's a joke, one child got 15 correct spellings and that's been converted to 3 points instead of 5, another has had a perfectly spelt word marked wrong, and then there's the indecision on all the writing marks. Just so annoying, and a real let down after the great maths and science results we got. _________________ Waheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... house! |

I have a masterplan Rainbowbright, we get the government to hand over the squillions of pound this fiasco costs to schools who can then train their Y6 teachers (as if they don't know already) how to level writing then we can all swap papers and mark each others! At least that way a bit of time and effort would be taken by all those involved in marking!!!!!!

Hadn't realised that rainbow. Agree that this crossing out of marks over and again doesn't inspire confidence at all. btw, did you notice whether the crossings out are in a different colour? If they are, this means that the team leader has moderated said papers and changed marks. |

No, they're all red, seems to be same pen and writing as well, sal. Aside from being an inexperienced marker, I can't think of any reasons for it. _________________ Waheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... house! |

Is there something happening with Writing? My level 5 got 5 more marks than our poorest writer, borderline 3!!! My results are awful. I've not checking the marking yet as results arrived just as I was going on a course this afternoon. I know of 4 schools locally who have the same.
How many of us are querying our writing results? |

I'm querying 1 Louiw. There's not much point in the others as it won't change their levels. But yes, there seems to be big issues with the writing. Which, if you ask me, initially stem from the fact that the tasks this year were C**P. _________________ Waheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... house! |

Crumbs, smiley. What a mess!!!
Just wondered, anybody else who's unhappy with the harshness of marking and has the crazy clerical errors mine have on them as well? (Seriously, my SEN children could have done a better job of it on that score!) _________________ Waheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... house! |

| I have looked at all our short writing (colleague was looking at long) and compared to see why is it that majority of our kids couldn't pass the band 2-3 marks for composition and effect. I came to the conclusion that even if they described the busy place in detail (and these are our L4/5 children) but have gone into any form of narrative too, they had been punished. If they only stuck with description, however short, they got better marks. Really not fair on the kids, they have worked their socks off and so have we. |

Mine have been double marked with lots of changes made in red pen. Some of them 2 or 3 marks on each section leading to toatl changes of 9 or 10.
I am not sure why this is or if this is moderation. As you say does not inspire confidence.Head looking at them tonight
Too tired to write but had a brilliant day with two more performances and outdoor refreshments.Children brought tears to my eyes.

| It's not moderation - if the team leader has moderated, this would be shown in green ink. |

Send them back venus, I marked loads which drifted into narrative but the credit is given for the description which they do give and the 'going off track' shouldn't pull the marks down that low. _________________ Waheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... house! |

Sal's right, trollhula. If it's like mine, it's the same pen and writing so it suggests a poor/inexperienced marker more than anything. _________________ Waheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... house! |
