| I remember having a book read to us at primary school about a boy who survived in a nuclear attack or similar and there were only a few other survivors, who had to go looting to get food etc. Cannot remember what it was called but I know I enjoyed it at the time. |

No Titch - it traumatised me for many years.
The CHrysalids by john Wyndham I read as a young teenager - that was brilliant. _________________ I find the most agreeable people are the people who agree with me - Benjamin Disraeli. |

| Used to love Malory Towers and the other set of school books by Enid Blyton then bought every single Chalet school book. I used to dream of being whisked away to go there. |

| Wicked witch I liked the malory Towers books too and then like Hawk I really enjoyed John Wyndham as a teenager. ( I wonder if the book you were trying to think of was one of his Magpie?) |

I loved Famous Five and the Adventure series, but my favourite books were the ones with the bittersweet endings - ones that could make me cry.
My absolute favourite was Jenny by Paul Gallico (best known for The Snow Goose) - about a boy, neglected by his family, who is hit by a car and wakes up as a cat..he meets Jenny (a real cat) who teaches him catty ways and ends up falling in love with her, risking his life to save hers.
My next would be the final volume of The Animals of Farthing Wood by Colin Dann -Fox Cub Bold. Another bittersweet ending. |

| My favourites were Fattypuffs and Thinnifers by Andre Maurois and Follow that Bus by Pat Hutchins- haven't read them to my class though.. think I'd have to re-read Fattypuffs + Thinnifers first and think about the political correctness / steriotypes in it |

| Oh the chalet school. I've got nearly all of them up in the loft - used to love them as a child and came across them again years later. |

Me too, still have them all at Mum and Dad's. Got some hardbacks which I'm planning on selling too as there's no way I'll ever buy a full set of hardbacks now and I could do with the money (discovered one which I bought for £20 10 years ago is worth £100 now so not a bad return!
Still, I'm a signed up member of the fan club and have to admit to enjoying the magazines when they come. |

| I loved the chalet school. I bought my sister a first edition a couple of years ago so she decided she's like to start collecting them - until she found out how much the most popular ones sell for! |

Charlie and the Choclate Factory was my most-read book, but I loved reading 'The Hardy Boys' and 'Nancy Drew' books. _________________ I'm not mad; I just get these headaches...

I absolutely loved Enid Blyton books as a young child - I didn't get the racism in them at all...so feel a bit saddened by it now!
I also loved the Iron Man _________________ Back to wondering if I can continue with this... |
