Zamzar and YouTube

Just tried to download a YouTube file using Zamzar (My choir have written an Olympic Song and one of our members put it on there) and received this message

Sorry, we can't get that video
At the request of Google we have had to remove support for the downloading of YouTube videos on Zamzar.

This is my first try at this so can anyone help, please?

Hi,

I had this the other day and so used 'clipconverter', but I see that they have the same message on their site today.  It does say something about a browser addon you can use, but I don't know exactly what that entails.

It looks as though you tube have been clamping down!

If you use firefox, it has an addon called 'ant', which will download videos, but then you would still have to convert it to avi using zamzar.  Hope this helps.

If you look under the video there is now a 'download' box (there is on my PC anyway!) allowing you to download directly from Youtube itself and you can select the video quality at the same time.

EDIT:
Just checked - only working in Firefox (may be a plugin or add-on I've installed) and not in Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.

Had it the other day so used keepvid, which had an mp3 bit.  was gutted, love zam zar.

Thanks for the posts. Pleased at least it wasn't something I was doing.

happy highland,

Is keepvid free?  I always get put off by the bit below that says you have to pay for a licence.  Is that just if you download the program?

After further investigation I found that I have an add-on for Firefox called Easy Youtube Video Downloader. Works a treat!

If you need to convert the video you can use Any Video Convertor which can be downloaded for FREE at

I didn't pay. Think that's the one I used but doubting myself now.  Can't check because I'm on my phone. I used one of the top links on google.

If you've got Realplayer, you can download directly, I think.

Ahh! I do have Real Player on my big (old) computer but I have never explored its uses. Thanks will try it.
