Yr 6 websites

Hi again,
Does anyone have a list of useful websites that they pass on to Y6 parents to help the kids with SATs, I don't want to pile on revision, but games etc like tutpup and woodlands, would like a good reading comp and problem solving for maths if anyone knows.

Maths problem solving has to be nrich!  http://nrich.maths.org/public/

Can't think of any websites for reading comp.  Think I'd be tempted to give them some inference & deduction type question starters, then send the child home to talk to their parent about a piece of text!  Could the child write questions for the parent to answer??  Or for other children to answer?  I'm struggling a bit now!

http://www.eriding.net/english/reading_materials.shtml is great for question starters for each of the assessment foci/focuses.  If you were feeling keen/had some TA time/willing year 6s, you could print off and laminate the fans on coloured cardboard and then send them home.

Having said all that, I think I'd rather keep the reading comp in school because I'm not convinced how many year 6 parents would actually spend the time with a child they think can already read.  I'd rather send maths reinforcement and problem solving stuff home.

http://www.arcademicskillbuilders.com/ is my current favourite tables practise website.

Awaiting others replies with interest!!

We have a 'Help Your Child' section on our school site with ideas for learning at home (but not necessarily for Year 6):

It needs updating, but there might be a few useful sites there for you.
