Wish me luck...My OH and I challenged each other to a treacle tart making competitiion. He chose a Richard Corrigan recipe, mine was from Marcus Wareing. Mine was infinitely more time consuming but I was convinced I'd win. The secret, you see, is in the pastry which in total takes about four hours to make from start to finish.
Well yeaterday, I'd was just returning it to the oven for the second bit of blind baking when it leapt out of my hand and crashed to the floor. I nearly cried. The dog thought it was Christmas.
My OH's tart was nice, but not being a quitter, my today's pastry has just gone in for part one of its blind baking. Hence the need for luck...

Thanks for the crossings! The pastry is cooked, now it just has to cool down before the filling goes in and then back in the oven for another 45 mins.
Nerves are calming now...breathe...and out...

Good luck! Hope it comes out well. I love treacle tart. I may have to make one now too.

Well, it was lovely. Much better than OH's - even he said so!
The pastry was a nighmare though - wouldn't go to all that fuss again.

We both like cooking and can often get competetive in the kitchen.
Setting a budget and cooking three courses with drinks can be a good one. If the budget is low, its usually more interesting too.
