Weetabix crumbsWe all hate eating the crumbly bits you get at the bottom of bags of cereal, like oatibix and weetabix (are we weird? ). Anyone got a suggestion what to use them for? Throwing them away seems very wasteful.

Mix them with melted chocolate and dried fruit ? Not tried it as usually use cornflakes or rice krispies.

Mix them with some oats and breadcrumbs and use as a topping for a crumble or a gratin if they are not sweet.

Great ideas! Over40's sounds best to me but my diet will probably prefer the smallholder's gratin topping. Ooh I love sweet potato and gruyere gratin!

Ooh...I've got a great recipe for flapjacks which uses weetabix ad I always used to make it when I had the crumbs left from a couple of boxes. Will try and dig it out for you.

Here you go, found it quicker than I anticipated!
2 weetabix (or equivalent in crumbs!)
1 cup SR flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup coconut
175g butter
Mix dry ingredients together. Melt butter and pour in. Mix well and spread into a baking tin. Gas 4, 20 mins.
I usually drizzle with a simple lemon juice and icing sugar icing which goes nicely with the coconut.

Oh lovely RB, thanks very much. Would never have thought of putting coconut in flapjacks.
But then for that matter I wouldn't have thought of putting weetabix in either!

Yep he loves cooking. We've found muffins to be a great hit as they don't need to be mixed very well.
