I really liked the book. I am always cautious of seeing the film version of books. I'll be interested to hear what a bloke thinks of the book.

on page 100.
It is interesting how the book focuses a lot on the time traveller as a boy growing up, which isn't really in the film at all.

I am going to do the same as you hawk (saw the film a couple of weeks ago, now want to read the book)

Wasn't that keen on the book so I'm hoping I'll enjoy the film more.

I couldn't get into the book at all - didn't know if I was coming or going!!
Trouble is, this means that I'm not really interested in the film either.

Finished the book! Glad I saw the film first as the book added lots of extra detail - more about him as a child, and after he died, more about the friends, and family. Slightly different bits - his illness before death etc that are downplayed drastically in the film. Very good.
I think if I'd read the book first the film might have disappointed because, by necessity, it left a lot out.

I have been rereading it and thoroughly riveted by it yet again. I think it is a couple of years since I read it so I had forgotten the finer points. Still undecided about seeing the movie.

I think I might have to re-read this before watching it.

I loved the book. Not seen the film for fear it will disappoint. Heard a radio review which suggested that parts of the book were missed out: the reviewer had not grasped some things ayway.
OH read the book (first book he has read this millenium) and loved it too. Does not want to see film because it could not o the book justice, he says.
