Target for this week:

This week, I am aiming to:

- not bring any marking home, rather to do it all during lunchtime and straight after school (rather than chatting)

Anyone else got similar targets?

Rainbow_Bright

My target is to do guided reading properly and make a start on the new spelling scheme.

My target is to do 2 half days in a phased return - if school will agree.
wotsitagain

I had a long list of jobs to do this half term and because we were away for a week, I have done very little.  So my target for this week is to try and catch up on some jobs in the evening, by keeping all the work I generate each day (marking and resource making)  to being done at school.
cornflake girl

This week I aim to:

- finish writing my class assembly and have parts given out by Wednesday (I've taken far too long on it and it will only last 15-20 minutes)
- get most of my planning done in my PPA time so I can have an almost free weekend.
jog_on

I lose all my to do lists!
wotton

my target this week fill in the job applications I have.
madax1

My target is to remember what a lovely week I've had and work like a trooper, not wasting a minute, cos we've booked a night away next sat! Smile
cherryblossom

my target is to chill a bit more and not let school pressures rest on my shoulders.
try not to feel stressed by kids being naughty and follow the discipline procedure so i can get some teaching done
need to keep more up to date with marking
also have a display to put up by the end of this week

mostly i want to enjoy the week!
bscaca

My target is to not let my class get me down.

My target today seems to be to stay awake - am falling asleep - but have to stay awake as am on call for Dad who is putting in the sliding doors today of the remodel of our bedroom!

I'm trying to get more marking/jobs done in school so I have more of an evening with my OH and can do some co-ordinator jobs and keep on top of housework during the week. I just find with the dark nights I am so tired and can't be bothered to work!

Also want to make sure I am in school at half 7 as I've been getting later and later as the half-term went.
wicked witch

I hate it when it's dark so early. I never want to do anything in the evening, other than post on here.
My target is to stay calm and not shout at my class. Hard as they've regressed over half term and behaviour is not good at the moment.

half 7 every day? Shocked
wicked witch

I always am, I can't work as well in the evening. It was lovely this morning, I had the whole place (junior dept) to myself until after 8. No queue for the photocopier and no one to come and ask me to do anything.

suppose it's not so bad if you don't work too late in the evenings as well.

I think it's just difficult for me to imagine getting organised that early with kids!
nicolagraham

Yeah littlebigfish I don't have any children so only myself to get in! Like wickedwitch said it means you can get on the copier and get jobs done without the distractions of other people because I seem to spend ALL my time chatting otherwise!!! Laughing I need my mouth sewing up! Wink
greyengine

My target is to get my planning done during the week so I can go away this weekend for our big family do and not be stressing about planning or having to do it on Sunday night when we get back.
wicked witch

Littlebigfish, I could never manage it when I had my own children to organise. It's only because there's only me. OH leaves the house before 7 everyday as he commutes to London so it isn't too diffficult to get up and out early.
jenny_pest

My target is to get my RE work all underway and get it all sorted, to get my firework display done and to get all the bits of evidence - pics, notes, observations, labels etc filed away in the children's files - Have been trying to do them for weeks!!

Littlebigfish - I too am in around that time, again no kids either but i'm usually in school until about 5:30pm too.

wow - that's commitment.

I must be missing something out!  Shocked

I'm in awe of you early birds on here!   I'm fortunate that my school is so small, there's no such thing as a queue for the photocopier, but even if there were, I couldn't be in school by 7.30!   8am is the earliest I manage but I work much better in the afternoons when the children have gone home anyway.   Like tonight - have had 2 hours to myself getting things organised and left school at 6pm.  When OH is away I prefer to work like that but on the rare occasions he's at home in the week, I do my best to be in school earlier and leave earlier but it's a real struggle!

I'm in between 7.45 and 8 depending on how many times I ignore the alarm!

I'll get home by 5.30ish then do 1-2hrs work when my little one is in bed.

one of the reasons I enjoy teaching is because there is flexability. If I feel exhausted at 4.00 I'll go home then!  Laughing
jenny_pest

If it wasn't for my 4pm stop gap for chocolate I wouldn't be standing though!
Rainbow_Bright

Sounds fair enough, littlebigfish.   I'm fortunate to have a head who's happy for me to put the hours in when it suits me and doesn't insist on us being in school by or until a certain time each day.

You're right about the flexibility.  Works for me with OH away because I put in a lot of time in the evenings so I have virtually every weekend completely to myself.   Just a quick check of planning and maybe some shopping for resources is usually all I need to do.
jenny_pest

Think you have the right way thinking RB - i just seem to spend hours tyding up and sorting out after my messy foundation stage children!
Rainbow_Bright

I seem to do the same with my oh-so-middle-class Y5/6s!   Constantly sorting my desk out as well and classroom still isn't quite organised properly after my summer holiday refit...   think I might just about get there by the summer  Wink
wotsitagain

I was in early today- unusual for me.  First at the photocopier which had run out of toner and of course we can't be trusted to replenish that.  Nor can we be trusted to use the other photocopier which is only for office staff, who aren't supposed to copy stuff for children on it, only the posh stuff from the office. And my classroom was 15 degrees - no heating cos the new caretaker assistant doesn't know how to put the heating on.  And if my classroom doesn't get heated in the first wave of heating, I have to wait for the second boost at 10.

Not sure getting in early was such a good idea - but I will try it again tomorrow!!
jenny_pest

lol -- is it really sad that I had a mini lie in today and only got into school at 7:55am - I felt like i had lied to you all about my target!! How sad!!
smallholder

Don't be daft, our Jenny! Smile
jenny_pest

Very Happy
chatty_teacher

Am in at work by about 6.50am only because have to drop OH at the train station on way to work (wouldn't mind I only work 5 mins away!)

Gte most of my marking done before work so never take books home, whihc is very good as 30 topic books are very heavy!
Rainbow_Bright

6.50?!!!  I'm often not even out of bed by then!
chatty_teacher

I would like to say I am a mornign person but at the moment am struggling both ends of the day!
smallholder

...as long as you are alright in the middle bit! Smile
chatty_teacher

yes fine in the middle, unfortunately for my OH!

Same here! We can be up and out of the house in 1/2 hr though!! Have everything ready by the door ready to go  Laughing
Rainbow_Bright

Makes me feel a bit better, littlebigfish!   I'll do anything for an extra 5 mins in bed and I'm the same, up and out in half an hour.   Very Happy

Well I managed my two half days. Wasn't easy though, so I will stick with the same target for next week!

How's everyone else getting on with their targets?
bscaca

Sorry i failed with mine - my class did get me down.   Must try harder.

Well done SH!  Bet it feels good to get back into it slowly.

I've done quite well with mine, spelling is off to a flying start and guided reading is getting there.   Got a proper plan now, though, and timetable settling down again after rejigging to fit it in.
wotton

Doing not bad with my target job application started and visit to the school booked........
smallholder

...ooh thats exciting wotton - hope it goes well.
jenny_pest

My targets are done! Where would we be without TA's?? Very Happy
wotsitagain

Well done SH, and thanks for asking.

I have managed to do all my "new" marking at school, except Big write, but I did have Govs meeting that evening and an after school club.  Have been doing a big catch up on marking too so am hopeful that I shall be able to bring Big Write books home only over the weekend.  Is that all my targets?  Will have to check!
choccat

Mine was to make to 500 posts on here - and I did it!!
smallholder

Yay choccat!
queenlit

Glad you managed your 2 half days sh. If you can manage to do the same next week that would be wonderful.
smallholder

cheers queenlit!
