Sure you'll have already found this before, but I just found it and thought it looked very useful:

That looks great jog on. My class are really good at the oral stuff but they really struggle when it is time to put pen to paper, despite loads of modelling and guided writing etc I am beginning to tear my hair out!

When we were visited by OFSTED at the start of term the inspector said the boys, in particular, in our school are lazy! All staff have passed that back to parents with the full backing of the Head and the Governors. Doesn't see to have made much difference so far!!

Thanks jog-on!

Gosh, what a negative (and maybe unprofessional) thing for the inspector to say - tarring everyone with the same brush!  Surely children (including boys!), are, like us, individuals.

Thanks Jogon - I seem to end up doing the same old speaking and listening activities with my class, and this has reminded me of some ideas that I had forgotten about!

Thankyou. x

Sadly the inspector was not too far wide of the mark with about half the boys in my class; interestingly my SEN try really hard. Its those ones in the middle who tend to be over indulged by their parents; judging by some of the arents comments on Parents evenings this week some of the little darlings expect Mum and Dad to do everything for them so the concept of lifting a pen and writing with it is quite alien!
