Success Criteria for Perimeter and area in Year 6Hi, my brain has become useless after a week of very taxing children. Just trying to plan my maths. What would you write for a process success crieria for finding the area and perimeter of a shape?
Regards
Chris

Perimeter: perhaps
Find the length of each side
Add the lengths together
Area:
Split the shape into rectangles
Find the area of each rectangle using the formula A=lxw
Add the areas together
This is assuming you're doing compound shapes and not triangles or parallelograms etc.

Or use my knowledge of 2d shapes to help with perimeter questions.

YEAR 6
Calculate the perimeter and area of simple compound shapes that can be split into rectangles.
I can use the formula to work out the perimeter of squares and rectangles.
I can use the forumla to work out the area of squares and rectangles.
I can work out the area and perimeter of “L” shapes by splitting into rectangles.
I can calculate missing dimensions on compound shapes and work out area and perimeter.

Some perimeter answers are found by calculating, but others require accurate measuring.
