Still no ovenIt is doing my head in when it comes to what I can cook. Will get around to sorting eventually though. So today am making salmon fish cakes. There are only two small pieces of salmon I just got out from freezer. Have to make it go round 3 piggy adults. Do you buy reduced stuff and cram it in the freezer? Then forget it is there

We have been in that position when looking for a new oven. Amazing how you actually rely in it.
I am terrible for stocking up the freezer and forgetting it is there.
We have such a small freezer as well. Need it to break so I can get a proper fridge/freezer. Not sure how the previous owners coped as they were a family of 5!
OH actually got the fridge/freezer from the shed and put it in the kitchen yesterday. Means now we have more space. Bit of an eyesore but well hidden (thankfully)

Yes... that is what led to our ongoing 'freezer fun' (see my thread on here).
Am trying really hard to stop doing it. Now we've nearly emptied the freezer (and stopped spending such a ridiculous amount on food) we're working on a Monday evening trip to the nice supermarket near school to buy whatever reduced stuff they have and then planning meals for the week around that. Working quite well so far actually as we're eating more different things and saving quite a bit of money too which is good as it means we may be able to afford our summer holiday after all!

We'e on a eating up everything in the freezer because we are selling our house phase! Getting there which is good! Too many roast potatoes left though and having the last suitable with roasts meal tonight from the freezer, when even that is a push (chicken kiev!)

It's quite fun in a weird way, trinity! We've had some weird and wonderful meals while we've been eating the freezer stuff.

Hubby isn't that keen on weird and wonderful meals, I would be quite happy eating them, but he turns his nose up at it, unless I get him to create! If I were to create the same meal he would poo poo it!

i'm eating my way through the freezer as well as I have no idea what is at the back. i was going to take it all out and make a list but haven't yet.
Good luck with no oven mug. I mainly do stove top cooking anyway. i presume you still have your cooker top?

I made a fantastic lamb pullao yesterday with lamb mince and basmati rice which was all cooked on the hob. It was delicious if you like spicy food and very filling.

I hardly ever cook. Mostly it's my husband who does it but I'm ever so good at writing about it afterwards Last night I did cook though because the football was on!

Sounds like a lot of ingredients but dead easy to make.

Thanks for that.
I need a OH who wants to cook lots. When he does he makes yummy food just would like it more often so that I don't have too.

I do use stuff I have cooked and put in the freezer. I never remember to label things though, so it is always a surprise meal when I defrost something. I have quite often cooked rice, only to discover that what I thought was veg chilli, is spag bol, so we do have some weird combos.

I took some "soup" from the freezer to work last week. Turned out it was curry!

Have had to bite the bullet and get one. If all goes well it should arrive tomorrow. Also got a fridge and dishwasher arriving at same time. Being a bit naughty we have borrowed some of money from son. Bless him xx I love my boy

Don't worry about it, mug. Sure he'll have been happy to oblige - some of my first year student loan went towards a new car for my parents! You should be proud of your son for not frittering all his money away.

hee hee it is student loan we are using.
We had an under counter freezer and also a fridge feeezer. Fridge was always crammed. We have decided to buy a taller fridge only. Will have to make do with a smaller freezer but have managed this far. Hope i don't regret it though.
The dishes have been stacking up waiting to be cleaned in a new machine, and am going to bake muffins at the weekend. Not that I am excited or anything.

how exciting getting new appliances. i hope you have fun cooking in your new oven. a smaller freezer only is probably fine as we all know a larger freezer gets full of forgotten things. Better ot have a small one and use what is in there regularly.
i would like a larger fridge to keep more fruit and veges in.

I'd be excited, mug...
