I am planning to do superheroes when I do mine, with literacy links and ICT (create a comic). Also designing a superhero costume, which planets they come from etc. How are you these days VL?

We did some lovely art work based on space nebulae in chalks on black paper and some alien landscapes using ideas from a video we found.

I used some nasa clips about moon walks to link with science and forces. Floating drops of water are lovely to watch! Sorry, don't have the links to hand, but googling should find them.

3 years ago for my son's birthday we did a space themed sleepover in the Science Museum in London. One of the activities was to make moon buggies - that could be your DT link.

I used the Hamilton Space topic with my 5/6s last year. Although its a LKS2 topic they loved it. The DT bit was to build rockets with detachable bits. The internet links were amazing and the children loved it. I've never had so many parents brought in to look at what the children had made. Some great stuff on history of space travel. Good for revision of Light/Shadow/How we see and I linked the gravity to forces. The planet paintings from Hamilton were also a huge hit. Highly recommended.

we're doing space topic (kind of!) in 5/6 at the mo.
Started off thinking where it all began - Big Bang v Creation, Dinosaurs, did Cave painting under the tables. Learnt about famous thinkers - biogs on Darwin, Newton, Galileo etc. Had debate on if Earth round or flatLooked at planets - made 3D, did pastel planets, planet mnemonics. Learnt about star constellations. Did meteorites making craters on Moon experiment to see if distance made difference to size of crater. Learnt about relative sizes of ESM, made orreries to show these and how they orbit etc. Learnt about phases of moon, day and night, seasons. Got STEM people coming in to make and launch rockets. Going to make lunar landing craft (if doing vehicles could do moon buggies). Thinking what we can see from space and making mega structures eg spaghetti towers. Going to think about if life on other planets and the future. Prob more! That's off top of my head.
