School emailAnyone else been directed to only use their school email for anything school related? We've even been told to use it for emailing collagues or sending them planning or whatever. Apparently, it's unprofessional not to. Can understand how, for own safeguarding, if emailing parents it'd be important to use school email address, but going OTT for just sending a quick message to colleagues. I have hotmail address with my name so it's not like it's something inapt like sexybabe69 lol!!!

We have been told that we shouldn't really be using our personal email addresses but they haven't actually stopped us yet.

We can still use our home emails to email colleagues if we want to, but LA now tend to contact us by school email. Had a problem at school because we can log into our email accounts throught the staff website. You need a username and password to do this, but most people wanted to keep this the same as their login for the staff website which is in a standard form (so others would be able to work out what yours was). Apparently this isn't secure enough so people are having to change their passwords which most aren't happy about as it's another one to have to remember, and most people don't feel their school emails are particulary confidential.

My school email automatically forwards a copy of everything to my home email so that I only have to check one account. Sometimes I reply directly from home so it shows up with my home address - not been told off for it yet!!!

Tried to get mine to do that Chilli Queen but it is not possible with the mail system they are using. TBH they can't stop me from using hotmail to email colleagues but I will comply re other emails eg parents and the head of course!! It's going to be a faff to change it with people who email me eg scholastic, school council people etc...

School emailWe have been advised on grounds of esafety etc to use school email address for all school related matters. Then it becomes normal practice and there can be no breaches of confidentiality. When staff were told hotmail / yahoo would be blocked at school if they did not use school email and generally people do use school email now.

We've been told it's a 'professional use' email bu tnot told to use it it's optional. Others are blocked at school though so makes sense.

This is a security thing as hotmail accounts in particular are easily hacked into apparently. Think if people get into practice of always using the more secure on then it leave less chances of any slips. Although of course they cant police if you send a personal message to colleague on own email think its about training people into a safe system
