Understand why we belong to different groups
Understand how groups come together to celebrate events
Discuss which groups we belong to and discuss why it is important to belong to a group.
Show example webs of belonging linked to celebrities. Children to discuss who the web belongs to and why.
Demonstrate writing web about myself linking to communities and feelings about those communities.
Children to create their own web of belonging
Plenary
Link groups of belonging to being in a community. Discuss how communities celebrate particular events.
Link to web of belonging then lead to Religious festivals such as Diwali and harvest festival
This was planned before i knew observations. Any ideas on how to jazz it up would be much appreciated.

Think there are some video clips showing Muslim communities on bbc site - could use one of those?
I think this sounds ok. I'll have a think about some other ideas!
