performance management

I have recently been given the role as line manager for the TA's in our school and the head has asked me to devise some sort of performance management for the TA's.
Does any one else do this any how is it managed? I was thinking of doing it twice a year and having a focus on their achievements and success and a target to work towards.
Has anyone got any suggestions or formats for doing this.
Any advice would be great thanks x

I would have a place to record CPD - needs and achievements. I have a form somewhere on one of my USB sticks. I will see if I can find it.

thanks that'll be great

I was advised to make this a professional development discussion rather than performance management because it would not be linked to performance related pay.

I have just done professional reviews with the TAs in my phase. We look at their achievements first, any plans for their career development and then agree some really achievable targets - these are linked to any specific role they may have in school or just areas they can work on to improve their support in class. I have a proforma which we complete which you could look at.
Last year I actually got the achievements from all TA reviews and wrote a long list of everything they had done! Made great reading and really showed the whole school how valued they are and how much they do for us all!

Our TAs have a system similar to teachers which I helped to implement about 5 years ago. They all have a target linked to the whole school one for teachers, this year it's about helping the children to use and contribute success criteria. Then they have another one in an area that they want to develop. They are also given time to go and watch other classes as well.

I would say that it's important to get feedback from the teacher that they normally work with, I know of some TAs that can talk the talk, but in the classroom are not veyr effective, but their line manager has never seen them in the classroom interacting with pupils!

I deleted the proforma used at my old school when I left, but yes we did do PM for TAs. It was similar to the teaher one in some ways.
What has gone well this year?
What could have gone better?
In what wasys would you like to develop your role?
How can the school help you to do this?
And some targets.
