Outstanding maths lesson ideas please.

Last obs was satisfactory - I didn't agree, but had ongoing problem with observer. She has now moved on and I have a maths observation on Thursday with someone who is much more reasonable watching. However - I really need to prove what I can do. I am doing my flashy fingers starter which I am happy with, but the main can be anything really. Was going to do number sequences but don't know if I can make that whizzy enough, so just wondered if anyone had done anything that they got good/outstanding judgement for in Y1/2.

Cheers

Try Teachers TV. They have some really good videos that may help.

I like the idea of flashy fingers gorgeous - could you explain?
I would go with something where you can build on a concept from the previous day, so you can show that you are really targetting the children's needs and using assessment well. What have you got planned for the first three days?

Flashy fingers is great - children in ability pairs, take turns to show some fingers on one or both hands and do whatever their group is doing - double that number, say number bond to 10, number x5 etc. Sometimes we have one or both hands as multiples of 5 or t0 and they have to work out how many and then find number bond to whatever - can be anything number related. Easy to get going once the children are used to it.
