Once in a house on fire

I've just finished this book (recommended by Cofnchoc and Magpie, i think?)
I really enjoyed it! There's so much of the 70s that I remember and it's left me wanting to find out more about Andrea's life afterwards!
Thanks for the recommendation! Off to start the Guernsey Potato peel Pie one!!!

I have a copy of Once in a House on Fire, if anyone wants it I am happy to pass it on. Am trying to be ruthless and clear out some of my books Sad

Well, Andrea and I have the same birthday!!! (I'm older though!) I couldn't put the book down and so admired what A had gone through
You'll really enjoy it Bev!

So glad you enjoyed it. It's one of those books that I won't part with. When I was in the UK it was the thought of the difference that education can make that kept me going after traumatic days with case conferences etc I always gave a copy to trainee teachers who worked in our school.
Just out of curiosity I googled to see if there was any info as to waht she is doing now and came across this.

That won't open for me Cofnchoc.

It is a fab book that every teacher should be made to read early on. I gave my copy to my old HT and she was sat in her office crying after dipping into it.

See what you mean - www.bordersstores.co.uk/_assets/books/assets/Andrea%20Ashworth%20Q&A.doc - is it.
