My holiday reading list

So far have ordered from amazon:
The Piano Teacher
Past Imperfect
The Senator's Wife
Mystery Man
But then I went into Waterstones today and couldn't resist 2 more purchases - The Information Officer by Mark Mills because I enjoyed THe Savage Garden last summer, and Donna Leon 'Suffer the Little Children' to capture the essence of Venice when we are staying in THe Venetian in Las Vegas!
I hope my OH doesn't complain about the weight of all my books!

I am ashamed to say that I have not read any of those.
I seem to have less time for reading when the kids are on holiday- can usually finish a book in a day or 2, but been reading the same book for over a week.

Books are essential on holiday- if your hubby complains, leave him behind instead!
tui

none of those titles sounds familiar. Let us know which ones are worth reading.

I've got the Senator's Wife to take on holiday and quite a few others too.
brummie

I've got a couple by jodi picoult - can't remember titles, Eclipse from the Twilight saga - and hoping to get the last one in paperback from the airport - not sure when it's out, but we're staying not far from Volterra which I'm excited about!

Erm.....got the Kite Runner, and then a couple of others I picked up in Sainsbury's, and a Martina Cole if all else fails!
Sniggle

I haven't heard of any of those titles either so would be interested to hear how you got on with them.
I have read The Savage Garden and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the imagery it evoked.

I saw The Senator's Wife in Waterstones too and was tempted but got some other books. Will be interested to know what you think of it and I might get that next!

So jealous of you going to Vegas mrsbean! Can I come?? x

Most of the books I am taking were on the Richard and Judy summer reading list, though that's not why I bought them! I just find it's a good place to start with a list of what's new at the moment. I'm really looking forward to reading them and can't decide which one to keep out to read on the plane.mIt's very hard not to start reading them now!

i ve just read The Piano Teacher and really enjoyed it.
mrsbean

I'm looking forward to reading it as I was a piano teacher in a former life!
smallholder

In that case, have you read The Piano Tuner?
mrsbean

Ooh no - who wrote it? Now that's something I can't do - tune pianos I mean. Funny, but that post just brought the image of the PG Tips chimps into my head - the one with the piano - Mr Shifter!
smallholder

I'll hum it mrs Bean - you play it!

The Piano Tuner is by Daniel Mason - a beautiful novel, takes place in the 1800s and is about a man that has to take a grand piano to Burma.
