Maternity questionWhen I officially notify the school of my date to start maternity leave do I have to give a date of returning from my maternity leave.I didn't think I had to. Also if I want to return to work earlier is it right that I only have to give 28 days notice? i read somewhere that it should be 8 weeks!! |

I looked at that website and that is where it said 8 weeks notice to return to work where as most other places say 28 days. Just wondered which was the most up to date advice. |

Not sure, best way to find out would be to contact your union direct.
I think normally you would give an estimated time scale, but you can change your mind, e.g. let them know you intend to be off the whole year, or just a couple of months, as that may allow them to plan your cover more effectively, but you can change your mind from what your originally say as long as it is within the alloted timescale. |
