Lunch ideasThis is something I really struggle with so I usually end up getting something from Tesco on the way to school, having nothing or paying out for a school dinner. What tasty things do people have for lunch during the week?

Not tasty, but I do have a little box full of goodies in our cupboard for when I forget lunch. Packet noodles, the sort of tesco tub type, packets of instant porridge (we have a microwave) The kellogs oat bars and Chocolate!! etc.
Will have a think as to what I normally take as well. Including leftovers!

Have religiously made bread since Jan 08 in our Panasonic bread maker and make sandwiches - so much nicer than sliced stuff, we tend to use the more speciality flour so get a nice variety of types of bread. If I don't fancy a sandwich (or run out of fillings!) I have a stash of cup-a-soups at work and take a chunk of bread to dip in! Other people take proper homemade soup, or Covent Garden cartons (lasts two days).
Other people take in salads.
One member of staff goes out for a run then comes back in a reheats a Ginsters pasty which probably wipes out the benefit of the run!

I make a batch of veggie chilli or curry and freeze it in school in take away cartons. I just defrost one a day. Also freeze wholemeal bread and homemade soup which I can have as a change. Whne I really treat myself I buy those innocent vegetable pots that are £3.50 each but delicious! Also get a fruit box delivered from www.graze.co.uk- yummy!

i make a sandwich with hummus or lentil mix and salad, most days. I make my own bread as well in a breadmaker.
leftovers are good and i eat them cold or reheated depending on time and queue for the microwave. cold roast veges with chili sauce are divine.

Making bread is SOOOOOO easy if you have a breadmaker! In 2 hrs I can have a perfect loaf, and 5 min of that is the getting out, weighing of and putting away of ingredients!

The only problem with homemade bread is you just have to use butter! I went back to using 'proper' butter when I bought my breadmaker. Mind you tearing it off whilst still hot and eating it on its own is just as good. You could take breadmaker to school, plug in and do just that for lunch. Mmmm

I have been so tempted to get a breadmaker for ages but worry that I will never use it.

I thought I wouldn't use mine but you can put it on a timer and all sorts. I would offer to send you a loaf but it would get eaten before being packed!!

I make a batch of rolls in mine and then freeze them. I defrost them and have them for my school lunches.

I always make my loaf at night so I'm not tempted to eat it - generally is ready just before I go to bed, gets turned out, then is nice and cool (and easy to slice!) for the morning. I make every other day for the 2 of us.

I almost always have houmous and dip cucumber, pepper, celery, tomatoes, mushrooms and especially grapes (heaven's own combination) into it. Onthe other days I have NCG soup or a full on salad. Worst ever lunch was last Friday when I was called in to school unexpectedly - left home just to take my children to school and ended up at my school teaching - lunch was a stale dry roll kicking around the staff room. As I have a stomach problem I have to eat regularly and that was all there was.

I buy ready meals (good ones not those full of E numbers!) and take 2 or 3 into work on Monday. Sometimes in a week I get to eat tham all!!! If I get caught short I run to the corner shop by school and buy a pot noodle or bread and cheese to make a cheese toastie. I also have tins of soup in the cupboard at work if needed. Lots of people at my place are like this and so there's usually something in the cupboard or fridge to grab if needed and people are very sharey with stuff like bread, cheese, tins and butter.
