Literary debate

Our local town is in the middle of a literary festival and I haven't been able to get along to any of the talks/workshops which is a pity as they looked good. However, I attended a debate this afternoon which was held in the Mayor's chamber and the motion was 'This house believes that the book is dead'. Students from the local 6th form college led the teams and spoke very well - some interesting points were raised about a physical book as opposed to an e-book. I think that although the motion wasn't carried, we could all ask questions, contribute and then vote, many would agree that there is room for all sorts of 'literature' from spoken word, written books and electronic forms.

Does sound interesting. Have to say, I always prefer to have a hard copy rather than audio or pdf etc of books. I like the feel and smell of books!
Having said that, anything that encourages anyone to read can only be a good thing in whatever format.
