learning to slow down - eatingI don't know if anyone else is like this but I find that because I'm busy and always rushing at work I am getting really bad for eating my food at home really quickly as though it's just something I need to do before getting on with the next job IYSWIM. OH says he's noticed I'm getting worse and I've started getting indigestion all of the time. Problem is, i'm finding it really difficult to learn to slow down and enjoy what I'm eating.
I'm alright when we go out for a meal because there's nothing to be getting back.
Anyone else or I'm I just a food freak? I suffer from IBS so eating like this isn't good for me.

No, not on your own, I've been like that in the past. I'm better now, though having decided that whatever it is can wait until I have eaten properly!
It's not uncommon for me to eat my lunch after the children have left school but I keep a stash of healthy snacks in my desk which keep me going through the day without the need to bolt my food. I'm a 'grazer' and it seems to be better for my stomach (also suffered IBS in the past) to eat little and often which fortunately fits the pattern of teaching quite well. Might be worth a try?

I am often eating something as I walk up the corridor to get the children in from lunch. If I haven't time, like RB I have something at end of day when marking. It isn't good for us, but teaching is a bit like 'life on the run'. My OH is always telling me I should make time to sit and have lunch, but unless you work in a school, you don't understand that sometimes we just haven't time even for a wee!
What does IYSWIM mean?

If you see what I mean.
I have something lighter at work so that eating it quickly doesn't matter as much but at home you'd think I'd be able to slow down. Sometimes I'm sat at the table waiting for OH to finish so that I can whip away the plates and jump on the settee and grab my laptop.

ISYSWIM: if you see what I mean.
We have free school dinners so eat with the children. Good because it means we have to take a break and eat even if it is only ten minutes.

You do too much, CG. I know it's easy to say, but you do need to relax a bit and remember that it's just a job at the end of the day. x

When I was at work, I was exactly the same CG- very easy to get into the habit and I know how bad it can be with IBS. Sorry I have no advice, coz it is only since giving up my job that I have stopped doing it.
