Kindle owners

If you do not do this already, can I recommend you make the 100 top free books a regular 'look see'. I scan the list often, and make it a port of call like here! Sometimes books are only in the list for a day or only slightly longer. The next thing you know you are paying anything from 49p to £5 or £6.

Good preparation for the up and coming Easter and summer holidays!

Obviously some books on the list never seem to change, but others I am sure are only there to get downloads and reviews. Have had some great reads ( but also a few crappy ones) doing this.

It's one of the things that I do at the weekends - just to cheer myself up.  Sometimes I download nothing new and sometimes a spot a couple of new ones I fancy so it's worth doing.

I can download kindle books onto my iPad. This morning I downloaded a book of British Birds, 2 vegetarian recipes books, a book of African fables to use in guided reading, a book of African animal photos and one about acai berries. All free off the amazon site.
It was interesting how I judged the books by the cover as I quickly scanned through hundreds of titles. So many books and authors trying to get them noticed.

I am trying to load my kindle up ready for half term week and am totally incapable of thinking which books to put on it.  I got the kindle for taking on holidays etc so this is my first opportunity to really use it to the max and I can no longer think what I wanted to read.  What recommendations have you got for books which don't require too much brain power to read, yet make you think a bit about life  or inspire me to find out more about some things?  Free would be good, but low cost is almost as good.

Thank you xx

A few years ago I read 'The Queen and I' by Sue Townsend (the Adrian Mole woman), it's a good lighthearted read about how the Royal family have to go and live on a rough council estate and mix with the locals.  It made me chuckle at times.  It is currently in Amazon's Jubilee 99p range.

Thanks crispy, I rattled through that and found it most amusing, especially as a Republican sympathiser (shhhh) and in Jubilee Week.

Also read The Help - yes, I know, I must be the only person in the world not to have read it! Fantastic book that has kept me thinking.

And have started Before I go to sleep, but unlike many, I am finding it possible to put it down.
Night Garden

Don't worry Wostsit, I have still to read it Smile

Since its release back in 2007, Kindles and ebooks have grown in popularity, its combination of low key technology with its monochrome screen means that reading books and online articles for prolonged periods has become an convenience.

But did you know that your Kindle can do much more than just read ebooks or articles? There are a number of different features and uses that were added, developed or created by third-party developers with every new model of Kindle released.

I haven't read The Help either. The Queen And I - read it years ago, must get the kindle version and have another peak.

I loved The Queen and I when I read it, though it was a while ago now.

Kindle is the best way to read more and more books and enlighten us with the knowledge of this world.
