I'd stick to Powerpoint if I were you. The children are more likely to have it at home.

You can do all of that in word which the children may have at home. Also publisher - they may have that too.

I too would stick to a microsoft product as it would be much more useful to the children.

Find lots of Christmas images, teach the tools, final product a 'test' via instructions to do various things. Success is a finished Xmas Word/photstory/ppt etc
I'd stick to something they have at home so that they can practise.

This is one thing I did when I was in year 5/6 - although is easy enough for 3/4. It was my contribution to the ICTOPUS magazine last christmas.

You may have to log in to view it, but it is free and ICTOPUS is a really useful source of ideas for ICT.

I've just done this with Year 5/6. We used Word and linked it to our Victorians theme. They each produced a one page document of Victorian inventions with text and pictures. They had to have at least three pictures on the page. All did very well and enjoyed doing it. And they printed out their work and stuck it in their topic books.
