I recommend

Marian Keyes: Is anybody out there

I recommend: Sophia's Secret by Susanna Kearsley. Historical novel crossing over to today.  A lot like a lighter version of Barbara Erskine (who I also love).

I thought Is Anybody Out There was really clever. Even though I knew what had happened I slightly doubted myself - in the same way as the woman in the book. The realisation halfway through still hits hard!
