how are you recording 'parent voice'?

the team in our FS are snowed under trying to stick things in books for chn to share with parents so that they can add PV. It seems like another task for cross referencing with the profile, keeping records, sticking in a mountain of work and photographs.
how do you manage it - or - does anyone manage it and still have a work/life balance?

We arn't so much following anything specific with parents' voice but keep our info from our home visits and parental support infomation in a folder, each child has their own wallet and any info from home we get we record and write down in some and put it in this file. It isn't necesarily used to terms of assessment but we build on any info that we have been told to use in our own ways. E.g A parent will say at home child likes looking through catalouges etc... so I will provide catlaouges and scissors etc ask them to cut out things they like. Get them to talk about things they recognize etc.. so then we use this for our own recordings etc.. We listen to what the parents tell us, build on it and use our own assessments accordingly.

Any actual home events etc we use circle time and encourage the children to talk about past events etc.

Not sure if thats all makes sense, thinking as I type but its a lot to do on top of everything else.

thanks for the reply jenny, i wonder if it is kent that has gone full on for parent voice, is it the same nationally? can you give an indication of where you might be?

Not sure if this is any use, but when my little one was in nursery last year, we were invited in a few times to chat with the staff, and she filled in our comments on a grid related to the profile. We could also take in photos of him achieving things at home or things he enjoyed doing. Comments were initialled by staff and signed by us.

thanks magpie.

North West Mrs J, so nothng similiar to Kent - we just have to include aspects of parental partnership within our work.
