help!! Lesson Ob

Hi, I can't believe it but i have an interview for a DHT job- great you say but........ i have to teach year 1!!! 30 minutes and be as creative as i want!!!!
Well I have never taught year 1 i am a year6 teacher what can I do?
Are there any year 1 teachers who could give me some pointers?
The head was deliberately vague and said she wanted to see what we came up with? How creative we could be I know the school follows a themed approach and has had problems with progress  but 30 mins?
Any ideas from the lovely people on here

Think you first of all need to think what you want them to actually learn as a starter as even though 30 mins youll need to show progress
Suspect linking subjects is something the school are looking for
in plans id show next steps for you short lesson
We did some short ones and biggest mistake in my opinion was some people tried to fit in hours lesson and do lots of writing which there wasnt time to do which led to problems in their delivery
year 1 in particular need lots of active learning
they have great imaginations and will be taken anywhere an adult leads so lots of positives
maybe have a starting point eg object(s) or picture
make sure you show through plan and some pushing questions that you could differentiate if you knew them etc as this will probably be one of their progress problems on plan for follow on id have skills at various levels

sorry not given an idea but think you need to decide what youd like to actually teach first

Thanks, I can see what you are saying, not sure whether to stick to numeracy ( maybe in a different way) as this is my strength or to do something completely different.

Maths based on a picture book perhaps? The Judith Kerr one is great for fractions.

You could go more PSHE and have an Olympic themed lesson where you take in a selection of PE equipment and ask the children, in small groups, to design a new relay race for the Olympics. They then have to feedback to the class - develops speaking/listening/teamwork. I would also be looking to get phonics in here somewhere, maybe with using written names for the equipment that you decode with the children.
