Had our offer on a gorgeous 3 bed 1930s semi accepted today! Fingers crossed for getting mortgage sorted out now and then fun times buying furniture for the foreseeable!!

It is a fab house. No work to do instantly but plenty of things to do over time and as money allows! Even has the woodburner which we've always wanted AND an open fire. The vendors don't have an upward chain either so, all being well with the mortgage, we could be in there in a couple of months!

It's alright, oatcake, the estate agent mentioned the C word on the phone this morning as well so you're not the first! At least it adds some variety to the term and there's the Christmas party to look forward to as well. 7 weeks today and I'll be in Edinburgh with my Mummy!

How exciting ! When I'm next up I'll be round with a house warming block of cheese (and wine !!!),
Have just got back on the train from a quick 3 day visit to the lakes which involved Go Ape at Grizedale and the girls went to the zoo at Dalton (children got free entry if they had a pumpkin) and pony trekkiing at Holmescales near Old Hutton. Train was only 6 hours door to door - quicker than driving !

Excellent, over40, I shall look forward to your visit! We can get our walking shoes on and out from the door too as long as we don't drink too much wine!
I'm so completely overexcited about it now and just trying not to worry about the mortgage application too much! As we've been stuck in a too small place for a while now, it's simple things which I'm looking forward to - like having a guest room, a proper dining table, room to store my school things (rather than a corner of the living room in a heap!) and the like.

Oh RB - the house looks lovely. I spy a garage for you to store and hoard things there! I wouldn't like your draiveway though, I have a thing about parking on slopes since my handbrake once went on a gentle slope and my car rolled into a road.

Looks great RB. If the survey gets done quickly and your solicitor is a fast worker you could be in sooner than you think!
Our house is about the same age and when we had it surveyed mortgage people said they would withhold a sum until a new damp proof course was put in. We negotiated with the vendors and got the price down accordingly. As soon as we'd got the certificate re the damp course the money was released. Not wanting to discourage you at all - more a case of waving a little flag so that you are prepared.

It's 1930s, tui, built between the 2 world wars. Quite a lot of houses of that style over here.
