Five people you meet in heaven

Thank you so much to whoever recommended this. It is really good.
I could not put it down from start to finish, so finished it at 1.20am!! Was in tears reading it.
Definitely worth a read if you can get it.
Louiw

I loved this too Magpie!!! I've read it twice!!! I couldn't put it down either!
magpie nic

It is definitely a book I will read again, which is unusual for me!

I think we have similar taste in books Loui- apart from your maths one!!
Louiw

Yes, we seem to!! What are you reading next? I'm going to start The suspicions of Mr Whicher but I got a new book in the week on a recommendation of a friend called Arthur and George. It's based on a true story and Arthur is Arthur Conan Doyle!
magpie nic

Spooky, I bought The Suspicions of Mr Whicher in a charity shop on Tuesday Shocked My sis pinched it straight off me though so I haven't started it yet!
My very old neighbour has just given me some smushy family sagas she has finished reading- always quick and pleasant to read so today I am reading The Leaving of Liverpool by Maureen Lee and next will be The Time Travellers Wife.
Louiw

LOL. I've tried to read TT Wife but can't get into it at all! I don't know the other one! I'll let you know what I think if The Suspicions! I've got to mark 48 sci sats papers and I'm not getting anywhere fast!!!
thehawk

I like 5 people...too.  HE has a very definite and unique style.  Have you tried One More Day? That's a lovely book too.
greyengine

Also enjoyed both of those and 'Tuesdays with Morrie' also by the same author.
Louiw

I've read Tuesdays with Morrie and enjoyed that one, and have One more day on my TBR pile!
mrsbean

I really enjoyed The suspicions of Mr Wicher - really well-written and researched.
Louiw

I'm about 1/3 of the way through, and I'm really enjoying too! I'm learning all about Police/Magistrates etc!
Glad it's a bank holiday weekend, something to look forward to!!!
magpie nic

I am looking out for Tuesdays with Morrie and One More Day. And will be hurrying my sister up with Mr Whicher!
Night Garden

I have just started reading this until OH took it from me and now is reading it. Sounds like I am going to enjoy it!
Andrew Jeffrey

Sounds interesting. What is it about?
magpie nic

In a nutshell, a man dies, and then meets up with five people who have had an impact on his life in some way, either directly or indirectly, and in meeting them he finds out lots about his own life and some of the decisions made by others in his life. The whole idea of it made me ask myself a lot of questions!

Magpie...... fab book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
magpie nic

Isn't it wonderful? I wish I could remember who recommended it first to thank them properly!
magpie nic

I have just reread the thread and it was Plughole who mentioned it first, so thank you Plughole!
movingonup

Am so excited I found this in charity shop today and can't wait to start reading it !
Louiw

I've just finished Suspicions, and I'm just about to start For One More Day!
I liked Suspicions, but I wasn't riveted. Looking forward to this one!!
What are you reading Magpie?
magpie nic

I am about to start Body Surfing by Anita Shreve. Still not got my suspicions of mr whicher back yet.
Sniggle

I loved 5 people. It was one of those 'lovely' books that stayed with me for ages after I'd finished.
Louiw

Yes, I've read it twice!!!! It's great isn't it>?
Sniggle

I lent it to somebody and never got it back.   Sad   Been searching in the charity shops since as it's one of the few 'keepers'.
Louiw

LOL, I have keepers too! Some go straight to charity shops but some would never! (and I'm loathe to lend those!) I lent my copy of Ella Minnow Pea and it took ages to find again!!
Sniggle

Anyone else got keepers?  I've read soooo many but only have a handful that I've kept.

Seems like we're quite similar with our book habits Louiw!  lol  Laughing
Sniggle

My copy of Boy In The Striped Pyjamas went walking too and I need to get that back!
Louiw

I think us book lovers are quite similar!!!
Over40

I borrowed "Five people..." from the library having seen it discussed here. I really enjoyed it and it made me think.
movingonup

I have just finished this book today and really loved it. Have got suspicions next to read Laughing
plughole

We went on holiday to LA and we went on SM pier. There was a big queue for the wheel so we didn't go on.
I read the book and wished i had gone on it. My grandma had died a year before i read it and she loved the big wheel at blackpool.
That book made me cry buckets.
