Fennel (for Over 40)Fennel has an aniseed flavour.
Treat fennel like you would do celery and include in stews, roasted veg and casseroles. Or shred it instead of cabbage in coleslaw. Or use strips of it to dunk in humous. Goes very well with cheese sauces too.
Heres a nice recipe for a fennel gratin

Thanks - if I end up with fennel I'll try something but I'm not that keen on aniseed. Does it have a very strong taste ?

I think it is probably a stronger taste raw than cooked.
