Do you have an EAL co-ordinator?Just wondered if your school has one and what they do. Our intake has changed quite rapidly from just two "categories" ("white British" and travellers) to a mix of lots of different ethnic origins, some of whom speak English as a second language but fluently, others who come in with little or no English. LA does not seem to have anything in place as really it is a new issue for the whole authority. Thought there might be people on here with experience of EAL support/ monitoring/ communication with parents etc.....

Yes, I am the EAL person at my school! Don't really do much though, as never have any time!

Sorry, we don't have anyone doing this, we have so few children who joinus unable to speak English that it just falls under the SENCO role if they have very poor English.
