CV help - a couple of questions!Hi all, I hope you are all keeping well and are refreshed for the new half term
I have secured an interview for a GTP place, it's in two weeks, and I have to take in my CV but I am struggling a bit so wondered if anyone could help????
My real first name is not my preferred name so should I put a 'Preferred name'heading under my real name?
Someone told me they put a 'Career objective' heading under their personal details as an opener, just a few sentences. I like this idea but hadn't heard of it before, so do you think it's a good idea to include it?
I have done lots of 1 - 2 day courses over the years (far too many to list). So I was thinking of putting a 'School training' heading and just writing 'Various literacy, numeracy, behaviour management, ICT and first aid courses - will this be ok?
Finally (!) Should I insert a small photograph of myself in the top right hand corner?
Sorry for all the questions, but I really want to get this right and I've never had to do one before
xx

Good luck with the GTP. I'm afraid I'm rather out of touch with UK cvs so can't offer you much uptodate assistance.
I would say that you ought to put your real name with known as in brackets.
Wouldn't attach a photo unless it's specifically asked for.
Courses - add detail for the most recent/relevant to your course.
Good luck and I hope others will be of more help.

In addition to cofnchoc's advice i would say list most recent courses first plus any experience in school even if it is voluntary

usually they are only interested in courses within the last 5 years.

Thank you! I will list the most recent and relevent, which include Raising Standards in Writing and Overcoming Barriers to Mathematics, so they are good ones to provide a little detail!

Hope your interview goes well. Having spent quite a bit of time wading through CVs and letters of application, I'd say it's worth spending time on these and getting someone to check your grammar and spelling. But also, keep it professional but try to make it personal too, give a bit of a flavour of what's special about you and why you want a job at that particular school. Try and keep in concise as well.
