Chocolate calculator

Apologies if you've seen this before.

AJ - how is this done?????

Your Age by Chocolate Math
DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute Work this out as you read

First of all, pick the number of times a week
that you would like to have chocolate
(more than once but less than 10)

Multiply this number by 2
(just to be bold)

Add 5

Multiply it by 50
I'll wait while you get the calculator

If you have already had your birthday this year
add 1759

If you haven't
add 1758

Now subtract
the four digit year that you were born

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(ie, how many times you want to have chocolate each week)

The next two numbers are
YOUR AGE!

(Oh YES, it is!)

It's something to do with the fact that when you multiply by 2 and add 50 you always get a 3 digit number which ends in 50.  If you then add 1759 or 1758 you always end up with a number which ends in 08 or 09 which was the year when you last had your birthday.  The first 2 digits are determined by the number you first chose so 1 causes 21 something, 2 leads to 22something etc.  As we were all born in 19 something when we take away our birth year we end up having to 'borrow' from the 3rd digit which reduces it by one so effectively means that 21 become 20, 22 becomes 21 etc.  If you subtract 19 from that number you are left with the number you started with.

That is a terrible explanation and I hope AJ comes on here soon to explain it properly!!!!!!
