books at the charity shops

Whilst in Wales, I went around the charity shops and bought:

Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo (I love this book)
Lionboy by Zizou Corder
The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson
Remeber Me? by Sophie Kinsella (not really my choice but my sister insisted!)
The Resurrectionist by James Bradley
The Flamboya Tree by Clara Olink Kelly
The Pirate's Daughter by Margaret Cezair-Thompson

One day I will count my tbr pile!! I'm sure I have an addiction  Laughing

I buy most of my books from charity shops too.
Sniggle

Well I had to travel 250 miles to find them!!   lol

i love second hand bookshops as well. i don't generally find much in charity shops if you mean the ones with clothes as well.
Sniggle

Yes I do mean those Tui.  I do a 'trawl' about once a month just to see whats about.

I have been finding plastic animals recently in charity shops. My class is mad on them and especially love dinosaurs. They generally don't have many toys at home and there is no McDonalds round here so they don't even have those toys. they line them up on the block buildings. Very cute.

awwwwwwwww   Very Happy

I bought some Biggles books in a second hand bookshop the other day.  Think some of my boys might enjoy them and if not, I certainly will!

I'm sure this has been mentioned before but the libraries around here sell off books for 10p and also videos - they've been well used but you can certainly pick up loads of bargains. I picked up a gardening book and one on the South Downs Way today for 10p each.

Today I bought..

Sebastian Faulks - The Girl at Lion D'Or and also Engelby
Patrick Gale - Notes from an Exhibition
Robert Harris - Imperium
Stef Penny - The Tenderness of Wolves
C J Sansom - Winter in Mdrid
Sarah Waters -The Night Watch

7 books - all good condition - Just under £10 !

I was in Neath ccbaa1, not far from where my sister lives at the time! Kind of a long way to go to buy books!!

That was a good haul smallholder. I've read Girl at the Lion D'Or but not Engelby.
I've not heard of the Robert Harris book but the rest are on my ever growng tbr pile!

Enjoy your reads xx

Thanks - am starting with Girl at the Lion D'Or.

I can't ever find anything decent when I look!

I know I've mentioned this before but I still love the swapping site www.readitswapit.co.uk I've has so many great condition books from it. I've got a huge pile waiting to be read and then re-swapped. Fab!
Sniggle

I used to use that site rubba but found that I just loved getting books on my doorstep so much that I was spending a fortune on postage!

I still go on there and check the most wanted swaps etc as it gives a good idea as to what is popular.
rubbadubbas

True, but otherwise I'd be buying new books which works out more expensive.

I'm afraid I'm a terrible library goer - I never manage to return books and get huge fines. "Read it swap it" is far cheaper!
Sniggle

Hmmm ... maybe I should start it again but limit the amount of swaps I do!
