Book afternoonAfter reading the picture book thread, I've decided to have book afternoons this week! I teach year 6 and feel the need to expose them to some fabulous books. I've just spent a good hour rounding up all my pictures books. From Eric Carle's Hungry Caterpillar, Dogger, Percy the Park keeper, Elmer, Hairy Maclary, up to Window, If the world was a village, to Tuesday, Penrose the Maths cat, Westlandia, How to live forever, my whole Anthony Browne's and many, many, many others (over 30 books!)
I'm going to allow them to read, all afternoon, for 3 afternoons!!! How revolutionary is that!! I've found an origami book, so I reckon we could do some of that too!!!
Sounds like bliss, doesn't it????

Let us know how it goes! I am so lucky that I get library lessons with my lot, a whole hour it is great! Such a wonderful opportunity to share and talk about books that you wouldn't normally have chance to in normal lessons.

Oh, you've given me an idea, I might do the same! We've got a chillout room that doesn't get any visitors, so I'm going to nick the cushions and bean bags!!!
It's a shame it's going to be rainy, would have lovely to do outside!

How did the afternoons go ? I'm thinking of taking mine outside for reading as we have a willow dome and quiet area but I know some will disappear behind the shed and not read !
