Another maternity questionHiya before I email my union wondered whether anyone knows the answer had a look on TESFAQ but couldn't see answer
- can I set my maternity leave date to start at the beginning of september when we should all go back?
I'm due early october and am unsure whether or not to go back for some of sept so wondered whether I could finish July but set sept as mat leave date?????

You can put the first day abck (although I do think it has to be at the start of the week, so you may miss a day or so if you term doesn't start on a Monday.
That way you will get full normal pay over the summeer holidays (although in your mind you will have finished) and then just not return in Sept, meaning the clock starts ticking then for pay purposes rather than the end of July. (although if the baby is early and arrives in August that's when the time will start.

ta trinity - think I'll do that then - no point in going back for a couple of days and then finishing - think I'd annoy everyone!!!! Let alone be able to fit through the door!!!

Might be too late, but I actually went back to work after Xmas for three days then went on maternity. No one really seemed to comment. Another workmate came back in Sep for one week as well.
