After School SettingI'm posting on behalf of a colleague - does anyone know what standard/curriculum requirements are necessary for After school club settings? Not clubs but the actual setting that runs the club for ages 3 -11. My colleague is new to it all and the internet is full of infomation but who knows whats relevant and whats not nowadays!!
Anyone with any help or links etc - I would be very grateful as I'm sure my colleague will be.

Im not aware of standards re curriculum for such clubs but of course they are ofsted checked often at same time as school but not always and not ofted same team and its no notice so keep eye on school!

Having said that know of schools where they tracked a child from before club through school and there was an issue raised re activities in club not linking to school. For me this is wrong as think it should be separate- i send my kids because i work and they love it dont think theyd be so keen if it was extension of school and nor would i.

Thanks for replying Bluerose. The setting supports children from a few schools as numbers were low just from ours and they are before & after school - we have a good partnership with them & some staff work there as well as school, although they are concerned as they are OFTSED registered should they be planning all EYFS things and having files for all their children and should they have planning in place from the currciculum for KS1 and ks2 children?
Hmmm

jp I don't think they need any planning from the curriculum. Certainly when I was on the committee of my kids out of school club we didn't include school stuff. The kids mainly played, there was a craft table an often baking. They would have themed weeks etc. It was also a rule of the club that there was to be no homework done. The only files on the kids were the contact information and medical.
We have just set one up in the school I currently work in and as far as I know there are no links to the curriculum there.
