:(

Feeling a bit down at the moment, but not quite sure why.

Not particularly enjoying my job at the moment, but trying to make it easier for myself.  Have very little work-life balance, but trying hard to make sure I do...not really having the desired effect though.

DH was at the gym earlier and found myself just wanting to cry, for no reason in particular.

Don't know why I'm posting this really, but I guess I'll try not to come on here so much...certainly if I'm trying to improve my work-life balance.

Oh, I dunno...I like the support I get on here!  Actually, I went onto my old trich board today and it's kind of deserted...so that could have added to my miserable self...my trich is bad at the moment!  Again, not sure why!

Blah blah blah...sorry for moaning!

sorry to hear you are feeling down. x

Chin up, jog_on.   It's a depressing time of year, if you ask me.   I'm a much more upbeat and positive person than I have been in other periods of my life but even so, I feel really quite fed up at the moment.   Can't be bothered with work, to be frank, and the Christmas hols can't come soon enough.

Try and get some more exercise.   Can you go to the gym with your OH?   Or perhaps swimming?   It really does help to keep your spirits up.   I know you've been worried about your weight too, so if you managed to lose a bit and get fitter, that would boost your mood as well.

Plan some nice meals and evenings in/out with friends.   I think it's too easy to allow this job to consume every waking moment but if you have things planned, it's easier to realise you're doing a good enough job without losing your life to it.

Sorry to hear you are feeling like this. I think we all have times like this. Hope you feel better soon.

I am too ill with asthma to go to the gym at the moment Sad  Went a couple of weeks ago and it was too much.  I was really ill.  It hasn't improved enough yet.  Hopefully will be back to the gym next week though - fingers crossed.

Yes, weight is an issue and I am trying to tackle it, it's just not working at the moment.  Oven is broken and we're trying hard to cook on hobs and in slow cooker, but with decorating etc. it's not always that easy!

Thanks both of you xx

Do you have an asthma clinic at your doctor's surgery? I have to have a review to check my medication is working etc. What is causing your asthma to be so bad? Do you think a course of steroids might sort it out?
Rainbow_Bright

How about swimming then?   I have asthma too and swimming is really good and would be a nice, low impact way to get back into exercising.   I didn't mean to hit a sore spot by the way, I just know that when I've been really low, carrying extra weight has made me feel even worse and exercise kind of kills two birds.

I've got loads of good meals which I cook on the hob (I actually quite rarely use my oven).   Could send you some recipes if you want?

xx
redredrobin

That's a horrible way to be and it sounds as though a few things are working against you at the moment. It's no wonder you are feeling low. Can you try cutting out any work that is not absolutely essential and using a few more "cheats"
wotsitagain

Bless you.  You have had a busy year with moving etc.  And this is a miserable time of year in many respects: cold, damp and dark.  I have to say that despite glorious autumnal colour, birthdays for 3 family members and Christmas, I don't really enjoy things as much as I will after March 1. Added to which this is such a long and intensive term.  Don't leave us, you contribute so much, just take it one day at a time and we can all get through the grot together! xx
jog_on

Have been to Drs twice and have got new inhalers.  It's slowly getting better, but I don't want to tempt fate and it to get worse again.  going on a residential soon and need to be fully fit! Building work at school could be to blame, as during hols, asthma has been a bit better!

Yes please...recipes sound lovely!  Very Happy
jog_on

Thanks all of you.

I'm going to try to do as little as possible.  Get marking done in lunchbreaks etc.  I'm very good at procrastinating!  Wink
Rainbow_Bright

That's a good plan, jog_on.   Was my big thing at the start of this year - not to bring any books home.  Pleased to say I've only done it once and that was because I was on an afternoon course and had to leave school as soon as dinnertime started.   Simple thing, but 15 minutes at lunchtime saves you half an hour at home.

I'll get a few recipes together and send them.   Anything you don't like?
smallholder

My OH has got through his whole life by procrastinating!
jog_on

Hubby hates mushrooms - actually has a phobia of them, I reckon.

I don't like lamb or leeks or fennel!  He he!

Thanks x
Rainbow_Bright

Haha....   I love mushrooms, leeks and lamb!!!!!

But with you on the fennel.   It's a bit odd.
movingonup

Sorry to hear you are feeling down jog on i think it must be the time of year as i have been crying today also xxxxxx

Night Garden

Jog on I hope things will get better for you. I do thing the change is weather and the nights becoming darker can set us off.
Thinking of you for this week.
jog_on

Thanks everyone - I'm sure I'm just being stupid and pathetic!

I'm annoyed at myself because my trich and dermatillomania are so bad I can't get my hair done.  Need it dying, but have raw skin Sad

Hope you're feeling better today Jog On - agree with others that the time of year doesn't help - but it will soon be Christmas and then a couple of weeks off!!

Sorry you're not feeling too happy at teh moment Jogon.
My OH had a chat about having somehting to look forwsrd to as a way of coping with the mundane. It's going to be my mission tonight!
Sorry your asthma isn't good either, hopefully it'll start to get better. It's going to be colder this week, does that help?

jog_on

Hi everyone.

Thanks for the lovely comments.

Have headache and not feeling too good today Sad  Feel like I'm totally alone at school, despite being in a team of 7 other teachers!

Give yourself some TLC x
magpie nic

Jog on, is there anything I can help with practically? I won't be around tomorrow but will be on Weds if you need help with anything and I can help I am happy to do so.
nicolagraham

((((((((((jog_on))))))))))))) Hope you are feeling more positive soon- don't be hard on yourself as you have a lot on your plate and as others have said this is what we're all here for.

If you ever need to rant/cry/shout feel free to PM me or message me on facebook. Very Happy

kesunder

take care of yourself, i totally understand what you say about being lonely at work despite being in a team, it is not a nice feeling. be kind to yourself (((((JO))))))
jog_on

Thanks so much everyone!

I'm just going to do the minimum, or try to anyway!  Leading a staff meeting on Weds, so need to prepare well for that, but everything else can wait or not be totally perfect!
wicked witch

I know what you mean about feeling alone in a team. I feel really down today for no apparent reason, other than my class regressing right back to where they were at the beginning of term. I think it's the darkness, I hate it.
i'm drowning in a sea of things to do and making lists of lists, it's getting ridiculous.
Roll on the summer!!
jenny_pest

Sorry to read about your troubles jog on - I think its important you do keep coming on here and talking to us all, you need to offload at times and it is hard putting all the stresses and strains onto family & friends.

I work in a close team of 5 and often feel like i'm out of it! Didn't barely speak to anyone today literally other than a child beacuse the job is so consuming, I just didn't have chance because of work demands. What I mean is... we all go through it & know how demanding and consuming it is. Feel free to rant and talk.

Hope you feel better soon. x
squiggle7

Hope you are soon feeling more positive Jog on and Movingonup. As others have said, it's a difficut time of year anyway, what with the nights setting in early and hardly any daylight. Just try to do the minimum to get by at work until you are feeling more able to cope with things.
oatcake

Be kind to yourself JO. Take whatever shortcuts you need until you feel stronger.

Hope today's been better for you Movingonup.

Lots of people seem 'down' at the moment - I'm sure the change of hour doesn't help.

Thanks everyone.  I do appreciate the kind words xxx

Only just caught up with this, jogon.  Hope this week improves for you.  Try to think positively if you can.  I hate the way our job often makes really good committed teachers feel like they're not good enough - think we all suffer from self-doubt at times.  Make rest and relaxation a priority, because you'll be no good to your children if you're ill.  Don't feel guilty about having good quality time off, and take any support that's offered.
jog_on

Ended up crying at school today.  Decisions have been made which affect me and class without me being informed.  Feel isolated!

Sad
Rainbow_Bright

Oh, jog_on, that's just rubbish.  Don't know what to say except we're all here for you.   I've found some recipes for you too and have the spelling CD with me tonight.

Hey, sign up on the 'secret santa sign up thread' and you'll get JP buying you a Christmas pressie!

((JO)) really feel for you, really feel like you as well some of the time.  Perhaps if someone in school knew how you were feeling they might show you a little more consideration - or am I just being idealistic.  We love you  Very Happy
jog_on

They do know.  I couldn't hold it in any longer!  Unfortunately, the decision has been made and nothing can be done about it and I will feel the impact for the rest of the term!

Seriously thinking that I'm not cut out for this

On the bright (ish - like a dull lightbulb) You get a Christmas secret santa pressie from me!!! Smile

A challenge and a half for me to think what to buy you!
Rainbow_Bright

Just realised the down/up side (depending on how you look at it!) of me being proactive and starting the sign up thread - means I have to wait a fortnight before I know who's buying something for me!!
Andrew Jeffrey

Hi Joggers - sorry to hear you are feeling like this.
It WILL pass, but that doesn't help in the now.

I will buy you a drink - how does the 29th Nov sound?
jog_on

Sounds lovely AJ Wink

Thanks for all the kind comments.  I think things will get better - eventually.
