..of the window and disappeared

by Jonas Jonasson.

Excellent - very surreal full of coincidences that are totally unbelievable but entirely funny.  It is a very different and interesting book to any other I've read, so if you are looking for something different this is it.
It is in two parts - as a 100 year old man he runs away from his nursing home and proceeds to go on a killing spree (accidentally! Or is it...)
and a re-telling of his one hundred years of life - taking in The Russian Revolution, the Spanish Civil War, Chinese Communism, the fall of the Shah of Iran....all sorts.

I loved this too and the fact that it was 20p for the kindle version was a bonus.

So that's me at four!
Brilliant book - very cleverly interwoven.

I've downloaded too - but as there are still lots of books in my kindle it might be some time before I get to it Wink

Yes. Definitely a fab read. The body count does get high fairly quickly! Similar to the book of Forest Gump where the main character is present and influences the course of history on a number of occasions.

I loved it too and also noticed the similarity to Forest Gump.  You have to suspend disbelief entirely, but despite the swift polishing off of a few unsavoury characters early on, it has a very warm heart.  A very good 20p worth!

Finally read it! Found it very funny, very surreal and I really liked Allan as a character, especially in the bits where he was 100 rather than in the "history" bits, if that makes sense!
Thanks to all who mentioned it...and to Mugs who provided it!
