I'm currently doing this unit and I'm busy making some resources for it. We are looking mainly at animal reports (but I am showing them others are they seemed to think that reports had to be about animals!)
One of the problems in with the reading of information books to collect info for their on reports. I've been busy collecting info on ladybirds and collating it onto a sheet. I am going to use this to make ladybird notes (in the form of a spider diagram which will have sections on food, habitat etc). The children are then going to make their own notes sheet and eventually (after doing this on a number of occasions) will do their own report.
Name of Resource: ladybird facts
Intended Year Group(s): 2 (maybe Y3 as well)
Resource Type: (worksheet, plan, display etc): information sheet
Resource Format (pdf, doc etc) pdf

If anyone would like copies of info on other minibeasts just let me know and I will add to this post. Here's another one on earthworms:
