Have you ever read this book to your class? Mine was "The Magician's Nephew" by CS Lewis, am reading it now to my class, they are loving it. _________________ If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours. |

Milly Molly Mandy.
The book belonged to my mother. My daughter loved the stories as well. They are so quaint now. |

I read I am David (my fave book as a child) to my first class. I found it so hard not to cry when David first learns to smile and at the end. _________________ I wish I were relaxing on holiday! |

The Secret Garden (for a LONG time - still love it). It was then Little Women (both of my daughters have inherited the love of this).
As a teenager it became Wuthering Heights - still my fave and I read it again every year!!!! _________________ This is either madness... or brilliance.
It's remarkable how often those two traits coincide.

Also loved Heidi and Famous Five books just loved collecting those and also liked Little House on Prairie when teacher used to read it to us.
Not sure any of those would hit the spot with our kids today though and there are such lovely books to choose from
Did like Secret Garden and little princess too but think may have watched those on TV first.
Wuthering Heights is a good choice as an adult Bev |

matilda- i still have the hardback copy i got for my 9th birthday, complete with 'love from mummy and daddy' written inside it & the kids love seeing it if i take it into school! have read it to classes in the past, but we did charlie and the chocolate factory this time as topic was 'chocolate' (i love that too though and still have my 'original' copy which i read to the children from).
also loved 'goodnight mr tom' when i was a bit older than that. |

Silver Sword - Ian Serrallier. Absolutely adored it- to the extent that I swore my first child would be called Bronja! (Daddy didn't think a suitable name for a boy!) _________________ 23 sleeps until Christmas!!!!!

I liked too many to choose from so will pick a favourite author instead- Enid Blyton, Secret Seven books, Mallory Towers, Wishing Chair, Faraway Tree etc.
Milly Molly Mandy is fab!
As I got older I also liked Nancy Drew books.
Ones I still like now that I liked as a child are the Water Babies, Peter Pan, Stig of the Dump and The Machine Gunners. |

I remember I am David and being deeply moved by it in Fourth Year Juniors.
Hated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - drowning in chocolate rivers and gluttony -terrible topics for children's books! |
