We're interviewing on Friday and I'd like to think of a couple of questions - I'm new to being on an interview panel! What do you ask?

TAs Level 2, one to support a child with SEN 1:1 the other to support a Y6 class.

Please can anybody give me some ideas?

How important is the parents' role in the child's education?
Can you give an example of a time  when you have shown initiative?
How would you encourage a child who refused to participate in an activity?

You should meet with the interviewers and discuss which questions to ask.

If you were to see two Y5 boys fighting in the corridor, what would you do?

What is the role of the TA in the classroom?

How would you deal with two girls chatting on the carpet and the CT hadn't noticed?

etc.

Could give them a hypothetical tricky scenario and ask how they would handle it?

Ask what they think the job entails?

How do they establish good working relationships?

How would you support / communicate with class teacher. What do you feel encourages good behaviour? what would you do if a child told you to keep a secret?

I would get them to make me a cup of tea and then I'd taste it.  If it is the right strength, I would employ them.  These things are important!

I know we include a basic Maths and English test for our TAs which they do before the interview - calculations and simple problem/money type questions for Maths and passage to spot spelling/grammar mistakes for English.  Can be quite an eye-opener.

That's me out then! Now ask for a coffee and it will be a different matter.
