My union has asked me to be the rep for our school as the union does not have a rep here at the moment.  Does anyone else have experience of doing this?  What does it involve?

it is as little or as much as you want.  It could be just opening the post and sticking up posters, and having contact details at the ready for anyone with a problem, up to being highly active in challenging the SMT about work practices. It depends on how unpopular you want to be.
