Hi

I have a lesson observation this week for an interview in a year 3 class mixed ability teaching literacy (any aspect I want) for 30 minutes. I thought I could focus on adjectives and relate to a story of a magic pebble. Do you think this sounds ok? I have tried to keep the lesson structure in terms of a mini lesson. 10 min intro, 10 min main, 10 min plenary. Has anyone experienced a similar interview task?

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

i did a similar interview task for Yaer 6 a few years ago. I based the whole thing on the poem by KIt Wright The Magic Box. We read the peom, did a bit of analysis of poetic devices and then wrote our own verse. I got the job! They were more interested in how i got on with the children than it being a brilliant lesson, but every interview is differenyt!

Hiya, I like your idea, but 10 mins isn;t very long to write a story - it might take a few to get going!!!

How about some role play? Discuss adjectives etc and then act out, then analyse.

With my yr 3/4 we have done rap poems that they loved. Can you write a rap, rap? is a super poem. Could read that and discuss. Read boring, then with rhytm (sp) then discuss. What sounded better?

Then take a verse .. You can rap about... You can rap about.... 4 lines in total. Get them in groups to think of alternatives (they rhyme) so

You can rap about a car, you can rap about tree
You can rap about a house, you can rap about a bee!

Then listen to each others.  If a follow up lesson, then could film and perform - use instruments too!

Good luck xx
