|
|
After APP'ing some writing in year 6 during the half term it has become obvious that the majority of children are still only using some very basic connectives.
Which connectives should i be looking at getting my level 4 and 5 children to use? Also does anybody have any good ideas on how to teach connectives?

| senorcalvo - to get my very high ability kids aware of more connectives, I set their little group off with a word list using the above words but they had to sort them into the categories (think similar ones to OD).They had the use of dictionaries to help them. It really opened them up to these and have now stuck the sorting they did in back of books as a quick reference tool. |

| Another thing you could get them to do is to find good examples of the use of higher level connectives. |

That's brillant OD and emadam. My top Lit group are also struggling with connectives. I will definitely use this. Thanks for sharing. _________________ The best thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. (Oscar Wilde).

OD I would just like to say thank you for your list. I gave them out all mixed up this week with just the headings and got them to group them. It really made them think about the meanings and how they would use them. Greatly appreciated. _________________ There's nothing like a good friend - except a good friend with chocolate |
