Those of you from the old place may remember my posts in the summer about how I wanted to go full time and how my school dealt with the matter - very badly.
My school is therefore aware that I want to be full time - currently in  a very unbalanced jobshare. Today a job ad for a permanent full time post was handed to me.  The application has to be in by Tues and the interviews would be next Friday.  However, if I were to apply and get the job, I would then be obligated to my school, whereas I actually want a post with a TLR.  I have an application with a school at the moment, but that school decided not to appoint last month and readvertise in April, but wanted to hold on to my application because it was one of 2 decent ones received.
If I successfully apply to my school, I am cutting off the chance to apply for a responsibility point elsewhere.  But if I don't, I am cutting off the chance to earn full-time and have a class more fully to myself.
How embarrassing would it be if I didn't get the job in my 8th year there and one of the two temp posts who have been there for 1.5 and 0.5 years got it?
Ouf, why is life so difficult?  I know what my head tells me to do, but my other head  Confused says that that is not a clever decision because of the implications with a child goin off to uni and another trying to get his organisation/company/business  to move and be successful.

Thats really tricky wotsit. The TLR post is by no means in the bag though is it ? So it could be quite a gamble to hold out for it.I guess it depends how much you want full time now or whether you are prepared to wait for that type of post. Do you like your current school or are you really looking for a change?

Summed up nicely, I certainly don't take the TLR post to be in the bag! And I do not like my school - I was treated very badly last year, and for many other reasons which I daren't go into on here, I cannot trust the SLT (well, only one member).  For the past few days, I have felt very much the need to get out.  It has to be one of the most unprofessional education establishments ever.  Yes I need a change.

Well then that is probably your answer isn't it? Unless you are desperate for the extra money -  I would hang out for a better job in a better school which may be the one you have applied for or another may come along. Not easy perhaps to wait when you are feeling ready but for your own wellbeing this might be for the best.

Well  I have decided that I definitely don't want to be committed to my current school in September, never mind beyond, so I won't be applying.  I think that will raise a few eyebrows.  Interesting thing is that the post was to be advertised internally, but no one else seems to be aware of it.  The 2 temp teachers we have both spoke to the HT recently about how they needed to know about next year, he told me he would like to have people with experience of working in our school (prob cos no one else would put up with it!) and yet he has not given them the advert.  How weird is that?
